On the fence about this one. The movement seems okay and about half the cost of this… Are these guys owned by Invicta??? If so im just wary about their VASTLY over stated MSRPs?

Yes they are owned by Invicta. I'd say it's a good deal considering the other alternatives. Lume sucks and it has an aluminum bezel. Otherwise great watch.

There's been lots of articles on how Glycine's quality hasn't really changed since being acquired by Invicta - I think they are allowed to manage themselves independently too.

BTW, Costco also has a bronze version for $349

https://www.costco.com/glycine-co...01134.html

And a 46mm version for $300 also

https://www.costco.com/glycine-co...21185.html

Plus a 43mm pilot version for $300 too
https://www.costco.com/glycine-co...87644.html

The bronze looks interesting but the other two are too big IMHO!

I do watch repair and have only had good experiences with these even after Invicta acquired them.

I personally love these because of the downward curve of the lugs. I have a small worst, yet they're so comfortable despite the actual case width.

Yes, Glycine continues to make an excellent quality watch. As for fit, I too have a very small wrist, but am able to wear the 42 Combat Subs just fine. Great lug curvature, as you mention, but also, these Combat Subs are astonishingly thin.

Only downsides for me are, as another poster mentioned, the mediocre lume. (the aluminum bezel I don't mind at all . . . it's got its own look and wear pattern, and to my mind, is simply different from, and not worse than, ceramic)

Possible to swap out the blue dial with the black one from the previous deal?
Trying to replicate this rolex [rolex.com] 🤤

Neither dials come close to any real sub alternative. I have the black one with NATO band. i would say the worst thing about these Glycine subs are that their dials don't have that luxury feel at all. Everything looks painted on giving it a flat look instead of a more textured look. Honestly, the dial on my Invicta looks better than these. The rest of the watch feels fine.

Glycine is now my #1 recommendation for people looking for their first "nice watch". The quality (even after the Invicta acquisition) is awesome bang for the buck.

These Glycines are great for the price, but they seem to have QC issues since I keep picking up broken ones off Ebay that aren't running. Had one that wasn't running due to something as silly as an extra movement holder tab dropped into the movement by whoever was assembling it, to one that had a balance wheel that was missing the jewel that would interface with the pallet fork.

Some sub models do come with applied features for a more premium feel like the GL0388

No HDMI?

Jk. Not a bad deal for $300 for one with the bracelet, which j would probably value at about $50. Always better to have the bracelet than not as it's simple to change to other straps.

I don't love the dial though. So, have to pass. It's pretty cool that Costco is selling these types of watches now though.

It would be much easier to switch out the bezels (ie put the blue bezel on the black dialed watch). Switching dials is pretty intensive unless you're "into" modding watches.

If you're looking to get started modding watches I would definitely recommend sticking with Seiko's. If you mess up a Seiko NH35 movement it's $50 to replace it vs. $250+ for a Swiss auto.

The movement is the eta 2824-2 (8 ticks per second). Eta is owned by the swatch group and use on a lot of high end swiss watches. The movement itself cost between $200-$300.

Very cool, never noticed that. Kind of a bummer, I have my heart set on the GLO431 but it looks to be a printed dial with no applied indices. Love the orange accents
