Yes, I agree. I ordered 14/2 for running to lights and may need 12/2 to run receptables. Still thinking as the 12/2 wire will get utilized after atleast 3-4 months until I finish all framing. Not in hurry.

Just mentioned from price perspective as I cannot find 12/2 close to this price yet.

Menards has 14/2 for $110 but thats not southwire.

This is a great deal for a 250' roll. From what I understand, you can use 12 on a 15a and 20a breaker, but you can only use 14 on a 15a breaker. 14 is good for lights, 12 is for outlets. I'm finishing my basement and ran the lights on one breaker and outlets on another, but I see the previous owner used 12 for the older outlets and lights, and it passed inspection.

Yes. The breaker will allow a 20 amp load while the wires have long overheated and that is how houses burn down. If you must use 14/2 on a 20A breaker, it is suggested you size down the breaker to 15A as well.
