Need to install with 3 or 4 inch deck screws. They need to bite into the 2x4 holding the door jam.

I hope this is obvious, but do not put these on any strikes with locking hardware.

The wood frame of a door is easy to break through and the metal that holds it provides resistance.

By having a piece that moves, you're giving up some of that resistance.

That's what I do too but deck screws have terrible shear strength.

This strike plate can still slide with enough force, being that it has elongated holes. (even if longer screws are used)

This concept would be perfect for RV doors that can shift from season to season.

If it is a wooden door, I don't think someone really determined do break in will be stopped by a lock. So some minor loss of mechanical security is negligible compared to criminal responsibility for a forced entry
A misaligned plate preventing the lock from engaging properly is a much bigger vulnerability, especially because walking through unlocked door is a lesser offense.
