really not a bad deal for someone wanting to get into pc gaming. yes need to add at least one more 8gb ram stick and another hd. but all is upgradeable down the road.

never ordered from ViP outlet and the reviews dont look good so buyer beware.

I have ordered from VIP outlet 3 times in the past without issue. They sell walmart returns / refurbs / old stock(?). This pc in particular I have bought in the past at this price, and it is a good deal as you cant build a pc of this spec at this price. Airflow in the case isnt great though, the power supply is not upgradeable, and I dont think the gpu is easy or possible to take apart to clean/ repaste thermal stuff.

A good deal for playing indie / low to mid spec games and doing graphics design non professionally.

100%, it's a solid little desktop unit. I just switched put the gpu for an old 1660 ti I had, made for a killer gaming computer for my son.

These HP referbs seem to keep popping up. I ordered this model in Dec. 2021. Mine ended up having an endless reboot that would not stop. Return process was fast and easy. I hope other people have better luck than I did

How does this compare to an i5 7300 (2.5ghz) + 1060gtx laptop + 16gb ram?

Basically I need to replace my laptop with a more dedicated desktop.

Bought one on one of the previous sales.
Mine was missing the Wifi/Bluetooth adapter for some reason.
Great value for the price point. Just make sure everything is in tact/matches the specs. There were reports in prior threads of people swapping out the Ryzen 5 for Ryzen 3s, replacing the GPUs with lower models, etc.
Add another 8GB stick, add an SSD, and you have a solid PC for not much cash.

If you want to go down the upgrade route, you can sell the GPU. Modern AMD hardware is incredibly power efficient. I went with a $180 RX 6600 and can vouch for that - stress tested with a wattmeter. The PSU is proprietary, so you cannot run high end GPUs. But anything more than an RX 6600 and you're spending more than half the price of the PC on a GPU upgrade. Maybe worth it but probably not.

Likewise, there is a PCIe x1 slot. And if your Wifi card was missing Frown or you don't care about Wifi, a compact m.2 slot. So further areas to upgrade there.

And if you don't care about any of this, it has plenty of USB ports. Plug a compact thumb drive in and be done.
