I just got this in today to replace a DC33 that I got from an SD post from walmart a bit less than four years ago for $130: https://slickdeals.net/e/13191622-dyson-dc33-multifloor-bagless-upright-vacuum-130-plus-free-shipping-walmart

The old one is still working OK but is a bit worn out, and the carpets just didn't seem as clean as they used too be after using it, plus I am tired of having to cut hair off of the roller of the DC33 where this Animal 3 isn't supposed to have that problem.

I moved everything off of about 80 sqft of half of the living room (preparing to shampoo the carpet after vacuuming), and I used the DC33 to vacuum it, using slow strokes and going over everything at least twice. THEN, I used the Animal 3+ to vacuum the same area with the same method.

1) The Animal 3 picked up about as much as the DC33 did, meaning after vacuuming the area with the DC33 and filling the receptacle about an eighth of the way, the Animal 3's receptacle filled up about an eighth as well vacuuming the area JUST vacuumed by the DC33. The Animal 3 DEFINITELY works/cleans better! That is good given this vacuum was twice as espensive.

2) The ball definitely is more maneuverable which is nice, but compared to the traditional design the Animal 3 definitely drags more (read many reviews complaining of the resistance to movement). That said, it isn't THAT bad, just a bit harder to push/pull. The front of the roller head is definitely lower as well so able edge much better and get under the edges of cabinet doors better, etc.

3) Using the hose with attachments is more of a PITA to use on the Animal 3 as it was on the DC33. In both cases, the hose will not stay extended once the vac is on, and it is very difficult to maneuver without dragging the whole vac around, etc. The Animal is actually worse because the ball design isn't nearly as stable when locked in the up position as the DC33 was. I only have to edge for a few min though, so I will deal with it for the better performance using the Animal as a push vac.

If it didn't work a lot better than my DC33 I was gonna return it, but it does, so this is a keeper!

This is the PLUS model which comes with the turbine hand tool. And is $20 less than the last deal, assuming you're a Costco member.

there was a deal similar that people were comparing the costco version and people were saying the costco one is a special model only for them and is like a watered down version of the real animal 3. Is that the case here?

I could see maybe the accessories being "watered down" but the motor and physical vacuum I don't see Dyson making different ones for different stores. That's a lot to keep track of

I can't find ANY details on the Animal 3+ from Costco. There are no reviews on the Costco website, googling returns the Extra model which is different (for attachments, not sure about the vacuum itself), nothing on youtube, not even an unboxing, nothing in the vacuumcleaners reddit... maybe my Google-Foo is just really bad today? I picked one up because my current vacuum is old and dying, and I would have jumped on the regular Animal 3 deal from Dyson direct posted a few days ago, but the extras were OOS so I decided to keep shopping.

The normal Animal 3 MSRPs at $399, the Extra at $499, so this 3+ model MSRP of $299 (plus another $30 discount for this deal) seems too good to be true... even for Costco, given new Dyson models aren't typically this deeply discounted when they are a current model... I will soon see, and worst case return.

Looks like the regular Animal 3 plus the turbine tool added. Basically a free tool.

Since the Costco listing doesn't have pics that make clear what is what, here is a link to all of the accessories along with the name. I wasn't sure what the tool holder was (I was hoping it was a stand to hold all of the accessories if there isn't room on the vac), but nope, it is a $1.99 plastic clip... and $1.99 in Dyson dollars is like .50 USD. Ah well, better than a kick in the ass.

Of course they will, they might even match the price if it's the same model you bought

Aren't Dyson vacuums unreliable? Heard them called Diesoon and the difficulty to repair...
I saw that in a lot of reviews... which was why this being sold by Costco made it a buy for me.
Also, that this is the best deal I have seen on this model ever for a new version, the #1 corded bagless on rtings, and that it comes with the extra tool that is otherwise $70 plus tax and shipping...

The picture with the woman on the steps with the wand is probably the only easy way to use it. You'll need many feet to stretch out the hose just so you can bend it. it's extremely awkward and tough on you just to fit anywhere despite 'looking' like a good design. Even then it will probably eventually rip where the hose meets the wand.

Other things about this vacuum: it's a dead weight on (my) area rug. It's flimsy plastic and slow and heavy on a normal rug. Transitioning to hard floor you need to bend down and slide a button - don't forget to properly make sure the vac is straight up or it'll fall. This vacuum will do a great job in your house. You'll love the results. But-- it'll take you 3 times as long as other vacuums, you'll be exhausted, and it will probably bend and break.

-- I tried to like the ball vac for 2 weeks. Then I sent it back.
