I've been testing JF for the past year and while it had some quirks, Plex has a superior front-end client. The mobile and tablet versions was terrible esp when it came to downloading episodes though. I switched my Plex instance to a docker container and had all sorts of issues with local playback. The fact that Plex needed to connect to their home servers and my docker issues made me completely switch off of Plex and run JF full-time. While I miss Plex, I just don't see how they can continue supporting LAN users while being able to scale.

My setup for anyone interested:
Jellyfin for video content
Navidrome for music
Audiobookshelf for audiobooks
Just tried Plex Pass this past month just to see what benefits it had. While the GPU transcoding is nice for my family thats connected, the Skip Intros option was a feature i didn't know it included and makes the 1 time payment worth it.

I'm sorry, no company selling "lifetime plans" are long for this world.

I don't have the lifetime pass but I use Plex for my own media and it's great, however the pass has been around for a long time now so who knows.

I bought it in 2014 for $75, and they are still around.

Just started using the non paid version. It's great. Don't see any benefits for the paid version from my perspective.

When you used Plex did you use TV app or did you stream from your pc/phone?

They have been selling "Lifetime" plans forever.

I got mine back in 2013 or something.

Definitely got my moneys worth.

I may not like the direction the company is heading right now, but I'm going on 10 years as lifetime member, and been using it since inception.

No regrets.
