better to buy from Amazon so that you can return if there are sizing problems. Macys doesn't accept returns on this.

FWIW, I bought a pair of 501 from Amazon and they were frayed and split open at the crotch seam within a few months. I've worn Levis for over 30 years and have never seen a pair fall apart so quickly. 501 is historically the most bulletproof model.

Not sure if that's just Levi's slipping or if it's Amazon selling gray market, but it was really disappointing.

I have one of these in another color I got cheap fom Amazon some time ago. 541 is a nice comfy cut if you have muscular or thick thighs, but has the thinnest denim Levi's ever used.I doubt they will last. Not sure if I got a fake.

The material is what you should be looking at... These are 99% cotton (denim) so they won't be thin. The ones that are 80/20 blend are usually the ones that wear out the fastest, but also have the most stretch.

You didn't get a fake, Levi's makes cheap low quality versions of their products specifically for Amazon and other "outlet" type retailers.

Nope. Levi's makes different weights of cotton denim and the stuff they sell through Amazon is the thinnest, crappiest version they sell.

I have a nice pair of "Unbranded" brand jeans that I got too fat to wear and they're easily 3-4 times thicker than the last pair of Levi's that I bought from (and returned to) Amazon.
