Mainly for photo editing, and planning to start home video editing (no major special effect stuff)

Both are great prices. What's two hundred bucks between friends?

DDR5 worth $45 more? Would it be noticeable at all in real world situations?

I've not seen any compelling comparison in benchmark numbers for ddr5. It all looks like a very slight edge for ddr5 but a wash except say, specific compression jobs
Thanks! Now I wonder if this would be worth upgrading from an Intel i5-8400…30% faster maybe?
Oh at CPU heavy stuff a bit more than that but you're in an interesting spot. If you were one gen further back I personally would upgrade but that's still a relevant CPU. I'm assuming your motherboard is pcie 3... if gaming I would wait until 15th gen or so next year unless you just have the cash. Upgrades are always fun but I don't know that you'd see a big difference day to day. New storage options would probably be the most interesting thing but that's more money
