I had the original Sonos 1s, they sound pretty good. but I remember buying mine for sub 100 dollars a piece, and sold them for more than I paid years later. im not sure why these cost so much now.

that said, I have a Sonos five, (the one with touch controls and airplay) its fricken awesome. couldnt go back to play 1s. got the sucker for 250 dollars open box like 2 years ago.

I have to believe Sonos five > 2 Sonos play 1s.

I have two 1s and 1 play5.

To make a surround setup (with arc+sub), I would go with two play 1s, rather than a single play 5.

I wasn't a huge fan of the sub, I sold it along with my play 1's. I guess having 3 units, when one unit sounded good enough for me was better for convenience. but I only use it for music. never had a bar.
