St. Augustine grass must be grown from plugs or sod. This is just mulch and fertilizer to help the surrounding grass grow faster.

I thought grass didn't fill in gaps by itself? Don't you need to reseed and grow back in patches?
I'm a fan of Scotts products, they actually work for me and I actually use the the lawn repair for Northern lawns and the grass actually grows.

St Augustine does not grow via seeds, it can only be installed in a vegetative fashion: either by laying sod or planting grass plugs.

Just buy a few sheets for a few bucks and fill in the spots that way. This is a waste of time. Rake out the dead grass and put new sod down.. only way with St. Augustine.

I have the vanilla version. And while it tastes really good, it's sitting in my cabinet with little use. The macros are horrible, around 65% protein. Even PB fit has better macros lol!

Generally speaking, warm season grass (Bermuda, zoysia, etc) spreads and fills in gaps. You're speaking of cool season grasses like fescue, rye, bluegrass.

That makes sense. I'm in the northeast and think I'm growing fescue. New homeowner and had some luck with Scott's patch and repair products. I've raked out the old grass and the clover and other weeds and planted. So far okay results.

This did not work for me. It's not a seed and didn't make anything grow or spread faster for me. Just buy plugs
