At this point I'm picturing a giant Chinese freighter docked at a port here, laden with at least 10,000 of these Porter-Cable 6" jointers.
Note per the fine print:

*Rebates are provided in the form of a Menards® Merchandise Credit Check valid towards purchases at any Menards® retail store. Not valid for purchases on MENARDS.COM®.
Does anyone do that? Raise a price or end a sale but still sell things at the previous, lower price if you ask?

A local Menard's told me once they don't price match, period, and got ticked at me for even asking. I wasn't shocked because that store has the worst customer service in the business, and Menard's is goofy with a lot of stuff. And of course this is the king of fine print we're talking about, with their BS advertised prices that reflect a rebate that isn't actually a rebate against the real price. I want to like Menard's because they have nice stores, but they make it hard.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the item? I've been looking for one of these but not sure if I should pull the trigger.

This is a great deal. If you look up "6 inch benchtop jointer", everyone seems to be selling this exact jointer in different colors, Grizzly, Rikon, Shop Fox, Craftsman... Wen is the cheapest at $240 on Amazon before tax.
Even though the various 6" benchtop models all look the same on the exterior and clearly come from the same factory, they are configured differently for different brands. Some have helical cutters (not this one), some have height micro-adjustment screws in the tabletops (not this one), etc. I would not be surprised if the more expensive builds are built to higher tolerances or with better durability components too. This PC rebadge appears to be the lowest-featured build, but is still a good value at this price IMO.

I picked up one from Menards recently. I am not a jointer connoisseur, but for the price this is a good value. The fence design is garbage, and even once you get it square, it appears to be basically bolted to the sheet metal because it flexes easily, making squaring up an edge to a face difficult. For me, the tables were not coplanar from the factory, but shimming them helped tremendously. The infeed/outfeed beds are naturally short since it is benchtop, making jointing longer boards problematic.

I plan to build table extension and a fence bracket support, which should make this little guy nearly as functional as a bigger unit while still taking up very little space. Jury is still out on durability of the components and motor controller board (which apparently costs more to replace than the unit itself).

Picked one up from Menards. 144 after taxes and shipping. Been looking to add one...tired of rigging up shims on a planer sled. If its junk and only lasts me a couple years it'll pay for itself. 🤷 ♂️

I have had one for over a year and really like it. I just dabble with the woodworking. It is rebadged to several other brands as mentioned. For a table top it works well for me and can be put away easily. The blades do wear out pretty quick so you want to have a couple on hand to replace. After I went through like 3-4 pairs I got a metal block sharpener that will do these smaller blades and planer blades and can get them back to razor sharp very easily. Luckily I had kept all the ones I had removed so now I just go through and do all of them at one time. Saved a bunch of money that way because they go from $8ish to $15 at HD if they even carry them anymore.

Great idea on sharpening them. Do you have a link to the block you use to sharpen?

Lot's of stores have price protection usually 30days where they will match their lower price, that being said I don't believe HD, Lowes or Menards does it anymore (not sure if menards ever did.)

I worked building maintenance and we had a Menards corporate card and bought everything (except cordless power tools) there. Dealing with the rebates was too much of a hassle for them, and they let me send them in myself. It takes A WHILE but they do send the credits, and they even honored receipts I sent past the cutoff date. Their materials, fasteners, and hand tools are as good as you'll find at any other box store, ranging from Harbor Freight quality and prices, to Home Depot quality. If you're not in a rush for the credit (which never expires...once you eventually get it) it's handy. I have about $600 in rebate credits saved up for finishing my basement. If you're only doing this deal, not worth it for sure. If you buy there regularly, it's less real money you have to spend. No different than a "buy [insert phone here] get [retailer] gift card". Not the exact same as cash, but plenty useful. Also, the rebate is based on the full transaction amount. So even if I spend all $600 on one transaction, I'll still get a $66 rebate on the rebate. Eventually.

I call that the Menards "infinity loop" lol. Every time I use up a rebate, I swear I will not do it again. But then I see the estimated amount on my receipt and realize that it is still more than the price of the stamp, so I send it in. Then I go into the store to use up my $1 rebate credit, and end up buying even MORE stuff and the cycle repeats over and over. It is quite ingenious on their part to be honest!

I got mine last week, and am still setting it up. The left side of the jointer isn't quite level, so I have to adjust that. I might build a new fence for it, since it's a bit wobbly (as everyone says).

The price is right. I've gotten to the point in my woodworking journey where I care about straight/square edges, but I'm not serious enough to blow hundreds of dollars on a specialized tool. If I move up I'm pretty sure I can make my money back on CL, so it's a no-brainer.
