I love this simple respectful safe reply.
No, all that has to be done (properly) at the meter panel.
You'd just need the battery with this. And an inverter off the battery if you want 120v.

You can use a cheap lead acid or AGM car battery at first then upgrade to lithium later if you want.

Inverter cost depends on size. 1000w is small and around $150. 2000W and higher will set you back further.

Edit: Wow I read that wrong.

Quality / cost wise Renogy is decent quality. Very popular in van life, RVs and overlanding. The next step up is Victron

Is there a legit way to hook stuff up like this to a 120v socket in your home to back feed your house's electric?
Yes, but if you have to ask then you probably shouldn't do it.
It will involve sub panels, transfer switches, etc.
Probably not worth it to power 1 or 2 120v lines using THIS kit.

Hook up battery and inverter off of it and extension cord will get you probably what you are looking for and is going to be more versatile.

Guys, this kit doesn't even put out household electricity it is effectively a battery charger: 12v

Dont buy to try to connect to your home

Both great channels, but Explorist Life is so Victron/BattleBorn tethered now that technology is starting to surpass their designs.
