Used them while wandering through Xmas lights in Vegas last year in freezing weather. Kept hands warm the whole time.

Also used them in Tokyo in December, it was insanely cold and we kept our hands really nice while walking around the city. You do need them in a pocket, but even on setting 1 they'll burn your hands off if kept in a pocket. Also had them behind our jacket hoods on our necks.

I have both the 5,000 and the 10,000 quick charger versions, but one version back (not replaceable battery). The 10k version charges really fast. The replaceable battery is a bit gimmicky, because they don't sell the batteries anyways and you may as well buy two units rather than more batteries IMHO.
