No, he's correct, that is too much for almost all individuals.

General practice internal medicine physician here. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and can result in toxicity with too much. Moderately high doses can result in bone break down or kidney stone. Toxicity at higher levels is uncommon but can result in even worse problems. Unless you have had a extremely deficient level on labs and you we're specifically instructed by a physician, 10,000 IU a day is way more than you should be taking without medical supervision.

I rarely have anyone on such a high dose, and those that do need it only take it for a short period of time as a loading dose and then transition to a lower maintenance dose thereafter. In more than 20 years of practice, I've not had a single patient that needed that high of a dose for more than a few months.

National Academy of Medicine has defined the "tolerable upper intake level" (UL) for vitamin D as 100 mcg (4000 international units) daily for healthy adults and children 9 to 18 years.

I Take 2 5000IU's daily for D deficiency per doctor's order. Last blood work, I was right at the top line for maximum benefit. Lots of people are vitamin D deficient these days, even folks who spend time in the sun. Worth it to get your vitamin D levels checked.

Make sure to take it with K2. When combined with vitamin K2, vitamin D3 helps move calcium into your bones (where it's needed most), which prevents it from forming deposits in your arteries and blood vessels. Take D3 in the morning with fat and K2 at night.

This except both can be taken together... d3+k2 is even sold together. Strange that doctors don't really push the k2 with the d3 as it's pretty important
Doctors do not benefit from healthy people or simple vitamins.

5000 IU is more than double than what's necessary . It could even be detrimental . unless you take it once every couple of days.

My doctor put me on 50,000IU of D3 a week for six weeks.

Now I take a daily dose that is smaller.

My point being, blanket information is not always helpful.

Nobody actually knows if there are a "lot of people" that are vitamin D deficient, since experts do not agree on any minimums. And there is no widespread agreement that supplementation has any positive results, generally.

It's generally known that magnesium with vitamin D controls anxiety. While not bullet proof, it does help. It also helps if you're trying to quit smoking.
Generally known by whom?

There is no evidence either have an actual benefit over placebo.

Stop spouting nonsense based on your beliefs. What you are experiencing is confirmation bias.

Do a search on it beforeresponding. I've been on it for several months and I think far more clearly, longer throughout the day- for starters. Not anyone else's fault you live under a rock.

It's really worked well for me too. I'm not trying to give advice or anything, just wanted to share because someone shared it with me. If paying it forward is considered giving advice, I guess I'll add that to my 2020+ things I can't do anymore.

It's not strange at all. It's planned agenda. If you ask your PP for a vitamin D blood work, he/she will look at you with a dumb face. Doctors will tell you take D3 but not mention to take it with K2. I mean, just look at the troll/ignorant comments here and all of over the webs.

Yeah, I have been taking 5000IU D3+K2 with coconut oil for years but have learn this year that D3 and K2 can fight for absorption. So, when I run out of my current bottle of all-in-one D3, I'll buy them and take it separately. My D3 when tested was 100ng/ml.

But you still gave money to big gelatin. Why do vegans have so many rules that they break?
Yes gelatin made a sale but without any options and involuntarily. I am not vegan, but never never eat pig. It's scientifically linked to at least 50 diseases, and pig is the filthiest animal that will eat anything including its own faeces, and it's own dead. Why the "enlightened " world eats it still? I can only come up with capitalism. It is dirt cheap to farm pigs and sell its delicacy for high profit.

"The best ratio of vitamin D3 to K2 is 1000:10, meaning you should take 10 mcg of vitamin K2 for every 1000 IU of vitamin D3."
