Dont forget that its impossible to Unlock Bootloader in Verizon versions of phones

So here is the Deet's:

- It is locked to Total By Verizon but most Total by Verizon sim kits show both "Total by Verizon" and "Straight Talk" logos on it. So to be safe consider those networks or Tracfone direct as Network options. May be able to "rebrand" for Page Plus usage but most reps don't do that anymore.

- Some people have reported you only need to pay for one month but you MUST wait for 60 days to officially unlock the device. You can pay for 2 months if you want to be on the safe side.

- Once unlocked(after 60 day wait period) it is essentially the unlocked North American Google Edition so it will be the same as buying a normal Unlocked Pixel 6a directly from Google when they were sold through Google. Note: OEM Bootloader Unlock is permently disabled as it is from a Carrier not From Google Direct.

- Some people have noted a few things about this phone that were not great: Fingerprint unlock is not as smooth as other phones, Heating issues(I did experience this one), Poor network reception as it is using the First gen Tensor modem like the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.

- Target Employees may be able to get an additional discount on the phone, but after Target learned about the Slickdealer abuse of Team Member numbers and discount they changed the way you access the TM Discount now and it is no longer a Team Member number anymore. In Short: You must actually work for Target now and work for at least 1-3 days to use the new way to get a TM Discount. "TM's that are caught giving random people a TM discount and is using their discount in a way that is against Target's rules can be disciplined up to them losing their job". "TM's can share their discount with "select people" that Target deems eligible like Spouse's and select other people".

5% off with Redcard still applies to everyone weather a Team Member or consumer. So you might want to try and sign up for a Debit Redcard so that you can get that 5% off any time you shop at Target with No Monthly Card fee(Active Bank account required as transactions will be pulled from that account).

- Lastly: If you sign up with Total by Verizon you can get Disney+ included for either 6 months or for the life of the plan depending on which plan you Choose. Total plans that include Disney+ for the life of the plan are not subjected to rate increases.

Or

Sign up with the Straight Talk Gold or Platinum plan and get Walmart+ Included for the life of the plan. Walmart + now includes Paramount+ as well so you will get that included too.

Great deal but the complaints about the fingerprint reader are real, it's super frustrating. About half the time I have to let it fail several times and enter a pin. Currently thinking life would be easier if I just turn it off.

Use the second activation option Tracfone provides ("unlocked phones you're bringing to Tracfone") and it will accept your IMEI.
Phones activated that way are considered already unlocked so might have difficulty getting unlocked later.
If system isn't accepting phone on TF it's best to call support & have phone rebranded so phone qualifies for unlock at 60 days. Safer to make sure it will unlock instead of having to argue with support later (it's always a hassle).

It took a super long time over chat, but got the phone rebranded to tracfone and signed up for $10 plan. Will unlock 1/19. Total cost $110+tax. Used Discover for 5% CB. Not as good as the Metro $90 deal, but that is 180 day unlock.

What's this $10 plan, is it just a top up? I don't see it on the website, have to sign up for it through chat?

$9.99 for 30 min talk/text/web is the second-to-last plan shown on their online list.

Doesn't that require a 2 month initial purchase?

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I'm misinterpreting their "$10 with auto-refill for first 2 months" language.

I was hoping to use this on a Spectrum account (which uses the Verizon network) to replace a Pixel 6a with a broken screen. I'm guessing it will not work, though I was tempted to try. I'm seeing people try it on other services (although one was not a Verizon network, I don't think). I doubt I could take it back if it doesn't work. So I'm wondering if there might still be a way without paying $60 for 2 months of service (that's if the $30 plan works) through Total. I saw someone mention it being rebranded to TracFone and getting a cheaper plan. But I'm not 100% sure how that works.

Have one and buying another. Mine just got unlocked, and added the new Android 14 yesterday and wow, best upgrade ever. Battery life is better, camera layout menu is a nice improvement, I swear my screen is brighter and it feels snappier. Nothing close to it sub $500-$600.

The specific model I received was GX7AS. You can find the bands that model supports at the link and verify that it'll work on Spectrum. I would expect that it will. You can do a search on the IMEI for the one at your store before buying to verify it's the same model.
