No plan required. You can activate with a tracfone $15 plan so that it can be unlocked for free after 60 days. No need to renew after the first month. May need to call them to rebrand the phone to tracfone if you want to activate on tracfone. If you already have a tracfone, ST, total service you can activate with that service for free.
Free shipping or free store pickup.
Also available directly from ST website. Skip adding a plan if you don't want one. Thanks to mitchflorida.

Can I use that existing plan above to activate this phone if I decide to buy ( or any other ST, TBV similar phone deals ) without affecting my Pixel 6a unlocking process? Thank you.

It only checks out to work with Verizon or T-Mobile but it may work on visible as well

You tried any other sims in it? Some boost mobile sims are on T-Mobile towers, so you might get lucky with their $12.50 deal
Activate as a locked TF, choose keep current number & balance/number moves to new phone. Uses current service to qualify for unlocking.
I finally got my phone.
Sadly, I am unable to activate it on the Tracfone website or the Android app.
Get an error message that says the device is not in their database.
Here is the scary part:
There is an app, called Device Pulse, on the phone that pops up occasionally, it says to click on it to activate the phone. The app has the Straight Talk logo, it can't be disabled or uninstalled.
Bad luck for us existing Tracfone BYODers!

Try activating as a new locked TF - this isn't BYOD, it's still a locked Tracfone brand.
If you can't do it online through the TF website call support & ask them to rebrand it to TF, it shouldn't be a problem (all TF brands use same sim, there's even a small TF on it).
Note - there also might be an issue with WM not scanning device correctly & that's why it isn't recognized - lots of complaints in the Pixel 6a thread.

I bought the phone from StraightTalk.com.
So this would mean that the ST people are just as bad as the Walmart people when it comes to scanning the boxes going out the door!

I noticed this week that they made changes to account password requirements without notifying customers so it seems everything is YMMV - as usual.
