The 3050 was refreshed this year with 6GB GDDR6.
Super slick, thanks OP. I was able to add the Dell EcoLoop Pro Sleeve 15-16 for $20.99 to pad my order to $600.25 after tax and 10% discount code. Used three different AMEX cards to stack $200 off (Platinum business), $40 off $200 or more (EveryDay), and another $40 off $200 or more (Gold) for $320.25 net out of pocket (plus REDACTED and bonus REDACTED today only, and extra 2 MR points for Dell purchases on Gold card).
My only issue with this is how heavy it is ….

Lol I have a gaming pc so I'm looking for a gaming laptop that's relatively portable for when I go on long trips. Other models are a pound or more lighter

Lighter one has small heatsink, either it will throttle the performance or burn itself down

I don't care it's for casual gaming…
Not the end of the world I'd rather throttle than travel with 7 pounds of weight extra

My only issues are the weight, the lack of ram, and the totally crap screen… Other than that amazing deal!

The screen is actually very good. I have one. And ram is $15 for another 8g DDR5.
At 250 nit, I highly doubt it, you probably have a better screen on yours.

Hoping someone can help since I'm a beginner+ at understanding components. And please don't judge the decision I've already made lol. I bought my kids, who play mostly Roblox and some destiny 2, this HP: https://slickdeals.net/f/17158936-hp-victus-15l-gaming-desktop-tg02-0325m-ryzen-5-5600g-6-core-12-threads-3-9ghz-up-to-4-4ghz-8gb-ddr4-radeon-rx-6400-4gb-gddr6-256gb-nvme-wifi-windows-11-home-429-99?page=3#commentsSection
I upgraded the GPU to the rtx 3050 and was out the door $500 after tax because of the education discount. They have 32gig ram in their old computers I was going to swap and I bought 1TB SSD for $50ish. They have external monitors and this would be their main rig. I'm mainly wondering which CPU is better and if the ddr5 vs the ddr4 makes a significant difference. Price will be similar so I'm just wondering if this is worth returning the others and getting this instead if I were to upgrade this to 32 g ram as well. Thanks in advance!
