As I'm still in the return period from Best Buy, I've been keeping my eyes out for a better spec. The Ryzen 7 with 16GB made me click on this - and it is tempting as I have some unreasonable loyalty to Dell (worked for the company many many years ago). It comes down to what you value. I like the touchscreen and the 300 nits of the Lenovo. I don't really need the 1TB HD of this Dell - 512GB is more than fine for my needs. I'm not going to delve into the documented Dell Inspiron hinge issue, as I've never experienced it myself. But, if you do a google search for any of the lowest grade of laptop for any manufacturer (which the Inspiron is for Dell and the Ideapad 1 is for Lenovo), you're gonna find that it's a supposed problem with any cheap laptop.
One thing I did see that turned my head a little was this one: https://slickdeals.net/f/17264833-dell-inspiron-16-laptop-16-1920x1200-ryzen-7-7730u-16gb-ram-1tb-ssd-480-or-less-free-shipping as it has the Ryzen 7 7730u, which if what I read is correct, is the newer version of the Ryzen 7 5700u (in both this Inspiron and the Lenovo) - but I wasn't able to figure out if it's definitively better than the 5700u. But again, it has the non-touch 250 nits screen.
Hope that helps.
