Had one of these that worked great for filling my pool... until I had someone else use it to fill my pool when I was away. That's when it decided to not shut off. Came home to a huge mess.
I tried 3 of these and they all stuck on, and my pool overflowed. They work a couple times and then let your guard down and bam, overflow city.

Looked at this and thought that there was no way it could work/last. Seems like comments are on point.

In my experience orbit products are synonymous with quality. As in a complete lack thereof.
I have used their electronic hose end timers for a decade or so. They tend to last about 5 years. Orbit is fantastic with their lifetime warranty. I can't speak to the mechanical one but I have been super happy with the company.

I don't like these. The valves close very fast, the resultant pipe hammer is loud.
Yeah that's an issue with your plumbing not the valve. As someone else mentioned long plumbing runs should have a hammer arrestor at the end.

got these for $5 at Ace hardware last year. They are okay for something like spot watering the lawn, but if you need to use them often or periodically just better to buy one of the better battery powered ones. I use these now when I have to water a friends house during the drought and can only run each hose about 10 minutes at a time and constantly am walking back and forth around the home
