If you need a simple stereo receiver, this fits the bill, but keep in mind this came out in June of 2019 so no HDMI 2.1 or even eARC. Honestly, I would think most folks are much better off either with the Denon AVR-S line or spend $100 more and snag the TX-NR6050 from Adorama which supports both features and adds two more channels.

If you need a simple stereo receiver, this fits the bill, but keep in mind this came out in June of 2019 so no HDMI 2.1 or even eARC. Honestly, I would think most folks are much better off either with the Denon AVR-S line or spend $100 more and snag the TX-NR6050 from Adorama which supports both features and adds two more channels.

This is good advice, I'd add that $200 would get you either of those alternatives lightly used on Craigslist in most cities.

I need a simple stereo for my turntable. I'm using an old pioneer stereo receiver from the 90s that's starting to die. Would this fit the bill, or do I have to get a preamp for my turntable to use this. My current one has specific inputs for my turntable.

I use Logitech z5500 satellites and a Yamaha ywt-sw100 subwoofer. Do you think it would work for me?

If your stereo only outputs through phono, then no, it won't work. You would need a model with phono input (6050 supports it).

You can get a used 5.1 optical receiver from shopgoodwill.com. The average price I've paid is around $30 shipped. I've purchased 12 and none have been lemons. However, 13th did arrive with a broken bulb during shipping which made the display unusable.

Most 5.1 optical receivers from early 2000's came with a Phono input. Verify through photos and google manual.

Usually if they say it powers on, it's not a lemon and has probably been donated due to upgrade, etc.
If it comes with the original remote, great. If not you might get by with a minimum 4 input universal remote by Philips/GE (both made by Jasco) to power on/off and volume control. I.e Yamaha, one input code for powering on with the Up Channel button. Second input code for powering off with actual power button.

Always google the manual online to see if you can get by using the front panel buttons to work through the menus to suit you. Some sound field may be out of reach without actual remote. Since you're only using two channels, you should be fine.

Decent deal for a brand new budget receiver with bluetooth. Not many 4ohm speakers out there but specs show that this receiver can handle 4ohm loads.

I got this a couple of months ago. Literally no sound..troubleshoot with onkyo and they couldn't figure out. I ended up returning it to adorama

Bit of a technical question since I'm clueless as to how impedance works. I have an old Yamaha YHT-397 HTIB. The speakers work great, and the receiver mostly works, but I assume the chip that controls the surround channels for some reason has to warm up for around half an hour before it actually sends any signal to the speakers. The unit is over a decade old, so I suppose it was just inevitable. Would I be able to just get a new receiver and swap all the cables? I see this one says 8 ohms, and the manual for the Yamaha says it it set for 8 ohm speakers by default, so I'd assume they can use the same speakers?
