Most 5.1 optical receivers from early 2000's came with a Phono input. Verify through photos and google manual.

Usually if they say it powers on, it's not a lemon and has probably been donated due to upgrade, etc.
If it comes with the original remote, great. If not you might get by with a minimum 4 input universal remote by Philips/GE (both made by Jasco) to power on/off and volume control. I.e Yamaha, one input code for powering on with the Up Channel button. Second input code for powering off with actual power button.
Always google the manual online to see if you can get by using the front panel buttons to work through the menus to suit you. Some sound field may be out of reach without actual remote. Since you're only using two channels, you should be fine.
