A little hack, you can return an Amazon package in staples and they will give you a 15% off coupon. Use that 15% towards the headphones to bring the price to ~$300

I upgraded to these from my Bose QC35, big improvement and I was a fan of my QC35. I mainly use them on my train commute into the city. Blocks out almost all the noise, only thing that'll cut through is the train whistle if I'm in the front seat. The immersive audio is a great addition well and really improves the sound stage. I haven't flow with these yet, but imagine they'll be a nice boost from how my QC35 handled flights.

Surprisingly, the 15% coupon that I received today (from an Amazon return) worked just now: $349.99 - $52.50 = $297.49 subtotal.

Just like that Reddit post, the coupon I received also says "Not valid on online printing, technology including but not limited to...Bose...". So not sure if this is YMMV.

Other than the noise cancellation, are they worth it just for the difference in audio? I have a pair of QC35s but I use them exclusively to watch movies at home at night time. My QC35s are great but they are about six years old now. I'm wondering if this is the right time. …

I returned mine. Not worth it at even $350. Sound quality was meh. Call quality wasn't good.

Best thing about them was comfort which is what Bose excels at. ANC was great but not THAT much better than even the QC45 or many other ANC headphones out there.

I would definitely recommend these in the $200 price range for sure though.
These are generally not studio monitors- or audiophile-level headphones, so many Hi-Fi connoisseurs would most definitely agree. I travel often on long-haul flights for business and pleasure with one to East Asia taking more than 16 hours. Some airlines used to offer to business class passengers headphones with ANC in the past (most often QC15), but not all do these days. For my use cases, it is very much worth it for comfort and ANC. It beats any earphones I owe including the last-gen Sony.

Agreed on call quality. Nothing beats Apple earphones based on reviews.

Heads up for anyone who can be a bit patient: Sonos will be releasing their own headphones over the next couple months. They will likely be killer in terms of sound quality, features, and obviously integration to your Sonos home system. They won't come cheap…. But if you're looking for the latest and greatest, you probably want to hold off a bit

I completely differ. The QC45s are what I would call meh. Flat soundstage, nothing special at all. I wouldn't recommend the qc45s at any price, there are just better options imo.

With the Bluetooth codex turned up on the ultras, the streaming quality is far superior. Additionally, the base sound signature of the ultras is much better. Fuller and more complete. The spacial/immersive audio is also pretty cool and more than just a gimmick, definitely changes the listening experience on several tracks.

I don't use on-ear headsets to make calls so I can't comment on that

My qc45 has this weird noise when anc is turned on. Same issue with my older qc35. Does the Sony have this problem?

Didn't say these were audiophile headphones. Just not worth it for the price for what it offers. These will be heavily discounted again in the future in which case people will buy them in droves which is understandable. Agreed about travel. I enjoyed them on flights. But everywhere else they were lackluster in every regard. The Px8 was much more enjoyable (refurbished at a similar price).

I understand. I compared to these to my px8 for the same price (refurbished) and these were just flat all around. The ANC was better but not that much better when the sound quality was sub par compared to the px8.

I'm not knocking these completely. They're decent headphones. Just not worth it for the price. I would get them again at the $199 price point. I'm sure many others would too.

Target price matched the $350 plus the 5% red card discount. $357 out the door including taxes. Also, they let me get the sandstone even though Staples was only selling the white ones.

Sonos has gone way downhill since they got acquired. They used to be a top notch privately run brand but then got bought out.

Thanks for the deal. I got one because I'm traveling for work and needed an ANC headphone for the 4-5 hour flights. I got tired of my AirPod pro 2 not always doing the job.

Overall, this is a great headphone and superior to prior generations. With that said the bass is amazing on most track. For a true bass note, it can be slightly muddy but it's almost as good as the BO H95 which says a lot about how good this headphone is. The Sony XM5 comes close but the ANC on the ultra is better. Probably the best sound quality and ANC. The touch is not very polish and so it's annoying. The software is ok. The ambience is pretty interesting but not for me. The call quality is good. I haven't tested in wind. The comfort is good, but not great. There is a bit of a clamp force on the lower portion of my ear. Maybe this will lessen over time. EQ is pretty decent and the headphone responds well when you adjust bass, mid, and treble.

TLDR: best ANC headphone from Bose with superior sound quality at this price point.

99% of the time I use headphones for a calls or conferencing, so how good is the call quality. If not these, what would you recommend as the best headphones for call quality? Thanks.

The ANC is way better, the ear detection is awesome, and the speaker drivers are completely new and have a much richer sound all around. It's also far better with multipoint sources.
The drivers are not completely new. They are the same as the 700s.

Every time I see someone who knows nothing about audio use the word "soundstage" as some bizarre catch-all term for "sound quality" my eye twitches a bit.

That said, I agree with you that the tuning on the Ultras is far superior.
