Can we cancel without paying monthly fee ? Is it unlocked in case of Verizon
The phone is already unlocked. You will get it free from BB only when you activate a line with att/Verizon.

Att and Verizon has almost same cancelation policy.

You may terminate service for any reason within 30 days of activation. You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within three days of activation.

If using Google voice to transfer I need to pay $3? I already have the phone do I need to finalize the transfer, activate then cancel?? Or I can cancel already without paying the $3 for Google voice?

Has anyone tried porting out to cancel the at&t account? Also, would you still need to chat in to confirm it went through?

Updated wiki:

== When is the ATT account create/activated i.e. from when my clock starts for cacellation?

BB creates the ATT account for you and activates line. It happes right before shipping if you are getting the phone shipped or before they notify you for pickup. You need to cancel with 3 days for no activation fee but the read above to see how you can get rid of activation fee even after 3 days from your bill.

== Can ATT/BB blacklist/disable the phone somehow later?

No they can't. You are also not putting ATT SIM in it. BB is just selling you the phone with a phone plan, once you are out of the store they don't care. ATT can flag you but that's unlikely.

No cc in store. If they have your cc# bb can do anything if you cancel service. To be safe consider using for a month and then cancel immediately. Or cancel order and don't get involved with att. Not worth the risk.
Why can they do anything? The total was zero.

I'll do a clean cancellation that way but if you can confirm with ATT no line is created then you should be good.

Go to profile on online account, update it there or disable it
I have disabled it and yet they keep asking my passcode for cancelling. I do have my GV number and have not done the unlocking. So I should get the passcode while resetting on my GV but I am not getting any passcodes from ATT for resetting. Kind of stuck now Frown

Can you change the contact number in account to a number where you can receive texts? Otherwise, I'd unlock the GV number to get the porting done properly.

ordered this for store pick up on Mar 8. ported my unlocked GV number. the unlock was $3, BB total was $0 online.

what is unclear, do I have an ATT account, where can I find it? would that info be included in the order I'm picking up from BB? assuming activation isn't started until I pick it up?

Has anyone does this with Verizon and confirmed they canceled new line service, and kept phone for free? I have Verizon service already, I went through the prompts of adding line and it said 0 due today, but would owe activation fee $35, plus $27 new line monthly charge. I'm wondering if I go through Verizon if I call to cancel, will activation fee and monthly fee be waived, and phone is still free to keep? Seems like this would be a safer route compared to starting new with ATT

I'm having a hard time deciding between ship to store and ship to home.

With ship to store, it seems like you can avoid putting in your credit card info. But, store pickup for me would be 5 days from now (Friday), which makes it tricky to cancel within the 3-day window. How will I know when the line has been activated? Will BB deny my store pickup if I cancel the line before I pick up the phone? I imagine they can probably check in their system.

(Ship to home is faster, which makes canceling within 3 days easier, but then BB would have my CC details since it seems like a ship to home order still requires CC info, even for a $0 purchase.)

For updating, It has to be ATT number and I dont have that. If I unlock the GV number for porting, then I would lose any chance of getting these ATT OTP's on that GV number right? How are people using the GV route getting their passcode?
