Bought it when I thought I lost my XM4. Aside from the excellent noise canceling the most significant feature that stands out from the competitors is the immersive mode. The Immersive mode has software control the left and right sound, so when you turn your head around, you can feel the sound produced from the different directions (so makes you feel like you are in a live music event).

However, the Immersive mode, IMO, is very gimmicky, and doesn't improve the experience of listening to the music, with mild annoyance at best.

Noise canceling feature is very finicky as well. The music and noise canceling will be paused and disabled whenever it hears a loud sound nearby. Walking by the busy street will make the headphone stops the music constantly, a very unpleasant experience. I read the manual and made all kinds of setting changes via the app, but nothing helped.

Fortunately, I was able to find my XM4 back and returned this "Ultra" headphone immediately.

Would not recommend it if you already have XM4 or equivalent headphones.

Just received my headphones. Comparing it to my refurb XM5's:

1) I miss the XM5's pass through mode. Either I can "talk to speak" or cup the right ear and it magnifies the outside conversation. Great for when you or someone is trying to talk to you. Bose does have a mode called "aware" but that just means noise cancelling is off, it doesn't clarify or boost conversations.

2) white noise does sound higher than the xm5 as another user mentioned when not listening to anything.

3) Bose noise cancellation seems a smidge better than xm5. But a hiss and white noise as mentioned.

4) the power on is wonky. Half the times it won't turn on even when holding the Bluetooth/power button for 10 seconds. First time I did this, I wondered if Bose sent me a defective unit. But YouTube videos show that this seems to be an issue.

The QC Ultras have very close ANC to the XM5s. Though the XM5s will not be comfortable for large, clean shaved heads due to the heat. The bose definitely feel heavier but are more comfy to be sure. The lack of decent multipoint on Bose is a real dealbreaker.

They are back in stock at Verizon (for $379), so maybe there's hope after all. Unfortunately, my pending charge disappeared and I haven't been re-charged.

Got my white color just now. I'm sure another post on my listening experience isn't needed, but the weight and comfort are A+. Good luck to not getting your order canceled.

With no updates to my order, I chatted. After chatting w/two reps, I got this: "Thank you for your patience. I was trying to pull up your order however, there is an error here on our system. For further assistance, please contact our Order support team at 866-338-7390 as they have a full access when it regards of your order status."

I called and at first they tried to get me to accept some terms and conditions relating to new cell phone service (which they emailed while I was on the phone). After I told them no way, it's just an accessory order, they claimed to have pushed the order through. I still don't have tracking but supposedly it will ship in 24 hours. We shall see...but if you're in my situation (waiting for an order to ship and it's not happening), it might be worth calling.

I'm wondering whether people who have had their orders shipped are already Verizon wireless customers. My order is stuck 'pending' until I accept a bunch of BS terms and conditions about becoming a verizon wireless customer:
