TravelPro is a very good brand.

However, note this limitation in the warranty for this line:
"Certain component parts such as wheels, bumper feet, leather, etc., will show wear. This wear is not covered under the warranty."

When I called them about one wheel going bad on my carry-on they immediately refused to cover.
Also, both my friend and I both have one of their MaxLite mid size suitcases. The grab portion of the extendable handle developed an uncomfortable stickiness on both pieces of luggage.

Basically brand will use this as an excuse. Which is why it's extremely hard to justify buying $100+ luggage... A wheel breaking off isn't the same as wearing down due to rolling 100, 000 miles

As in they won't cover a broken wheel because it's wobbly? That isn't a wear issue that's a defective design allowing parts to get loose...

Good call. Hard to tell if this a cheaper line without more info.

This is definitely a cheaper line. I've bought several MaxLite over the years and even the first one I bought is still going strong (we travel a lot). I'm not sure what "sticky substance" is being referenced in one of these posts but I've never experienced that. I don't drink soda though. Smilie

Anyway, I bought a set from Macy's one time and promptly returned it. It doesn't feel at all like the MaxLite. The wheels, handle, even zippers were all janky. If you travel a good bit I'd suggest buying the MaxLite series if you like soft cover. Should last a really long time.

TravelPro luggage outlet has some good deals at times though you may have to get some funky colors. At least I know it's mine when my purple luggage comes onto the carousel. Smilie

Here's the classic collection. 2X the 'created for Macy's' line.

As others noted, the WalkAbout line is not covered by TravelPro's "Built for Life" lifetime warranty

You are absolutely correct.

The wheel became very wobbly and TravelPro claimed it is a wearout part and is not covered.

The story has a good ending, though. I went into Manhattan to the TravelPro authorized repair place. I gave them the luggage, did not mention that I talked to TravelPro, just said what was wrong with the item. They fixed it for free.

Not a "Sticky substance", but the plastic grip deteriorating.

It happened on both of the mid-size MaxLite pieces, bought at different times.

What is this outlet you speak of? Brick and mortar? Online?

The MaxLite 5 version is $112 on Amazon with an additional 20% off. Looks like this has the limited lifetime warranty as well.

We had good experience with Osprey warranty. They sent us a new pair of wheels when it was broken.
