this has bad reviews. Meike one is also on sale at woot starting with nd filter. There was polarizer filter too. I bought both and they work fine.

The meike one does not work with Tamron lenses and their VC. I got refunded for finding this issue. I don't recommend it.

My canon, sigma and rokinon lenses work fine. I doubt there is anything super smart in ef to rf adapters. It could be those lenses you have needed new firmware for RF cameras.

No it's the meike for sure, they had me run some tests before issuing the refund. The problem is I do both photo and video work and when in photo mode the meike adapter will not auto focus and makes a whining noise with Tamron lenses. I tested both G1 and G2 lenses and different lenses.

The point is the auto focusing system and the Vibration compensation do not work together and there are electronics to do this. I was on the latest firmware. Just warning others because I was on a paid gig and found out the hard way but luckily was able to manually focus for it.

Looks like the drop-in filters cost an absolute fortune. Are there cheaper third party ones you can drop in?

Where?

4.6/5 at AMZ, one of the less positive reviews is someone complaining they can't mount RF lenses on an EF to RF adapter and that there's no clear filter....mkay. 4.2/5 @ BH. 5/5 at Adorama. Some complaints on forums about it I didn't find?

canon own website has 2.5/5.also low score on the one comes with nd. No clear filter means another expense for this to work.

10 ratings and the reviews all appear to be copy and pasting from other websites, so forgive me if I don't lend that result much credence.

Why are people buying this when the no-filter adapter is $20 to $300 less than any of the drop in filters alone.

The negative reviews I've read in the past all dealt with the expectation they could use this adapter as a straight pass through, which is not really what it is for. You can get a standard filterless adapter and this one so as to have it both ways, but that will be heavy and expensive. I'm perplexed why the adapter that takes filters wasn't engineered to worth without them.

It seems this is a pretty niche item. The price is good if you need it. Most of us don't, but wish we had that big white EF monster that justified this accessory.

There are reviews testing on the tubes between the Canon and the Meike. Apparently the canon shifts severely to blue hue during different ND settings. Also the Meike comes with ND adjustable plus a clear insert. Canon only comes with the adjustable ND - the Clear costs more. I bought the Meike due to issues with Canon - plus it was cheaper considering you have to purchase a clear for Canon

Does the Meike drop-in filter work with this Canon filter adapter? Getting this is a good way to get a genuine Canon filter adapter with polarizer, but the standalone Canon ND drop-in filter runs for about $350. If the Meike is compatible, I can buy just the ND drop-in to use with the Canon adapter.
