I think that memory and SSD are upgradeable:

I have it bought from microcenter for $250 new. Worth it. I won't recommend display model though. Always on for several years…

Screen has a high chance of dying. Not to mention how people treat display units(especially kids)

Which is probably what these are. There's exactly one of these at almost every store in my metro area.

Can anyone confirm this won't have any warranty?
I thought "open-box" usually got a full warranty?

I wouldn't take the risk! Some manufacturers may consider it "used" (especially if it's in beat-up condition). It's arbitrary. I'd recommend passing on this!

Just a heads up, for most of the Asus laptops, regardless of new or open box or refurbished, if the serial number is not registered with Asus and if you have proof, purchase you'll most likely able to claim full 1 year warranty upon registering with Asus.

from my experience: I bought one open box asus from best buy, upon registration, I got a one year warranty. same for another one I bought on eBay openbox as well.

good luck.

How likely would you say this is, though?

Got to agree with the previous poster. This should have a full one year warranty from date of purchase. Keep your receipt and it should be fine. Also, it says on the page that you have 14 days to return in store if you are not happy.
