Fan on the cord is not the solution, 12 gauge wire is.
Is it worth the fire risk?

Better to use the Costco Model for only $20 more:
I bought this last time and love it! I use it around my garage and also when we have power outages and hook up the generator.

I use this to bring outlets to a wall where there are none in a utility room. It works great! Worth it at regular price if needed.

I use this to run my 1800 watt heater in my bedroom and I plug it in in my living room so the circuit breaker doesn't break The cord gets really hot but I put a fan near the cord to pull it off a little bit

The costo uses 12AWG vs the Sam's 14AWG wire.

So 12 gauge wire is better than 14 guage I guess. I'm leaning towards picking up the 12 guage professional grade cord at Costco. Hopefully Costco puts it on sale soonSmilie

Gauges are thickness of wire. Lower gauge is thicker and able to conduct higher amperage. Generally, 12g is more or less the standard for 15 amps for 100ft or less cable lengths. The longer the cable and higher amperage (more electrical draw) will require a lower numbered grade thickness to ensure the wire doesn't get too hot or burn.
