Sheesh people. Do your research. Do NOT just wake up one day decide "I'm low on vitamin xyz" and start taking 200 or 500% of the daily recommended.
A family member was taking 50k ui of vitamin D once a week when blood tests revealed a VERY low level. After a couple months and some trials we found that a 5k once a day was better. Still WAY more than daily recommended so levels were rising but without odd side effects of the single 50k pill.

Not a medical professional, but it's generally known that taking a high level of Vitamin D like this as a supplement daily without Vitamin K2 MK-7 has been known to cause hardening of arteries (calcification).

With all the supplement deals, what is really needed in our body?
After being Floxed by taking Ciprofloxacin, taking supplements has been huge in my recovery and these deals have been clutch.

Multivitamin myth: Study shows no benefit to long-term health, longevity
https://studyfinds.org/multivitam...longevity/
A few of the Key Takeaways...
Quote :
  • For generally healthy adults, taking a daily multivitamin doesn't appear to help you live longer.
  • The study found no benefit for multivitamin use in preventing death from major causes like heart disease and cancer.
  • Some groups (like pregnant women) may still benefit from specific vitamin supplements as recommended by their doctor, but for most adults, getting nutrients from a balanced diet is likely sufficient.
  • This study challenges the common belief that multivitamins are a simple way to improve health and prevent chronic diseases.
Just very briefly; I don't think the majority vitamin users are of the mindset that supplementation is being used as a heart-disease and/or cancer deterrent specifically or life-extender per se, but rather assisting improvement of "quality" of life day to day.

Also, this article along with most others regarding supplements, mentions there may be benefit to some unable to easily sustain a balanced diet whereas one would receive such vitamins and minerals via natural foods.

thanks. i hear that K2 puts Calcium where it should be: in the bones and out of the arteries.

anyone with details? thanks
also the advice was MK7 and MK4, both are good for the job.

In this cohort study of 390 124 generally healthy US adults with more than 20 years of follow-up, daily MV use was not associated with a mortality benefit. In contrast, we found that daily MV use vs nonuse was associated with 4% higher mortality risk.

Remember these are temperature sensitive.
I can't comment on the D3 itself, but certainly if you live in a hot client never mail order or Amazon order gelcaps like this in warm weather. Their trucks get ferociously hot (I feel bad for the drivers). I had numerous EPA fish oil orders that arrived in summer months from amazon in a melted blob that could not be removed from the bottle. Now I double up on it in my subnsave orders in cooler months and skip it in the warmer months. Thats not even considering the temperature sensitivity in the ingridients other than the gelcap coating.

As I mentioned, I am in agreement with some various studies claiming there might not be any mortality benefit. Wink

Yeah not seeing this article at all. I'm all for science backed evidence but stating something like this without any links to a valid medical journal is just as bad.

To steal the old quote... There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics.

Please use caution when reading studies that are based on observational data, particularly if you are going to reference them somewhere or make personal medical decisions. Confounding variables, which are inherent to observational studies, make it extremely challenging to create a causal relationship. It's often best to ignore observational studies unless the relative risk factor is substantial. Most individuals simply lack the prerequisite knowledge to even understand the limitations of these findings.

The extra big pills sale. I use the 2000iu vitamin D3 and this is for 5000iu. I use the 500mg turmeric and this is for 1000mg.

I use the 1200mg nature bounty fish oil and this is for 1000mg... Reduced it but close enough. I am getting that.

Update: Nature's Made brand has been included in the BOGO deal. I bought nature's bounty and nature made product. Awesome deals.

Get a blood test for vitamin D before supplementing.
I've been taking vitamin D based on reddit / SD comments saying it's hard to get too much.
Probably around 7000 IU daily, somedays more and I spend 99% of my time indoors.
Turns out I had high levels - 127 ng/mL.
Unless you really need it 5000 IU in one pill is too much.
agreed. the max i can do is 2000 IU.

American Society of Endocrinologists came out with their findings and recommendations last month - basically stating that all the hype about vitamin D was basically BS and only a select group of people need vitamin D supplements. Sadly, the circus went on for almost 15 years and labs and vitamin supplements companies made millions of $
Did the select group that need it have low levels based on a blood test?

Good thing you discovered this. I've read the max upper limit intake for most people to prevent too much from building up is 4000 IU

Who paid for the study/research that came up with such "findings"? Did such findings state that being outside in the sun generates Vit.D within the body? The circus as you call it, is all up in the AMA.
