DC Motor is the main draw for this fan. Once you use a fan with DC motor, you realize the 'regular' fans like all the ones they sell at Costco are crap.
Besides being more power-efficient, a DC motor can spin down much slower and thus have many more speed levels. If you're someone who thinks the "low" setting on a fan is still too noisy and powerful in some situations (like while sleeping), a DC motor fan is for you.
But unfortunately, not all DC motor fans are made equal either. Some are dead-silent (the motor itself) while others still make noise, either in the motor or the oscillation function. And of course, they're double the price of the cheap crap that's sold at Costco and other discount stores.
