232 or 832? Zimaboard or Zimabord? Code doesn't work...

I couldn't get the code to work for any of the models. Bummer.

Oh. It's free shipping. Sale is off though.

Imo, if you don't need the 4x PCI lan or the OS, it's probably better to just buy a mini PC from Ali for 100-150 with the n100. There's also a ton of models with 2x or 4x 2.5 lan, topton, etc, that cost about 100-200.

This might be more reliable but it's not that great a price not on sale.

I guess the appeal of the product is the "single board" aspect, but it means non upgradable RAM & eMMC onboard storage/SATA connection with very limited option, which is the opposite of home DIY. Unless someone really wants this form factor, fanless cooling or the PCIe, it is almost always better idea to spend the money on a mini PC.

Yeah I don't know what I would do with this. Maybe pfsense with the two ethernet ports, but something stationary like that doesn't need this FF. NAS is out, Plex server is out....

I think a raspberry pi 5 outperforms this from hw to sw and community support

This is perfect for Docker container machine, OPNsense or PFsense; You dont need huge CPU power for any of those services. Docker opens up huge use cases.

Are you sure you want to run those things on this Celeron N3350 CPU? We are not talking about "huge CPU power", but this is a very outdated CPU, and N100 literally has several times the performance of this.

My opnsense firewall is running on an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-8145U CPU @ 2.10GHz (2 cores, 4 threads) in some Lenovo fanless setup similar to this. I have no idea why you need huge power for a firewall, any $5 junk CPU runs run of the mill routers/firewalls these days from Netgear/Linksys etc. I cant see my CPU spike past 2% usage, unless I login the WebUI and it has to spit out the web page.

Im farily sure this thing can handle Pihole perfectly find running DNS blackhole rules in docker. This isnt exactly for multi-media. My full fledge NAS running all docker services hovers at 4GB ram usage with zero swap usage. You can tailor the use cases down for the limitations with this 2GB ram. Even a ghetto RPI can run Pihole

Docker services: VPN client, 2 torrent clients, pi-hole, all sorts of automation for torrents, etc: 4GB ram usage. I have 32GB total, over kill? Yeah, but they were just sitting around so just stick it in.

....
Who the hell run vanilla opnsense? Any plug-in like Zenarmor or proxy will need way more than the specs for this device.
