These are first person shooters with loads of free to pay mechanics. They made the towers into character classes that you play as, and there are PvE and PvP modes. Garden warfare 2 takes FOREVER to load at first launch on my Xbox Series X, for no apparent reason. I looked it up and found that EA just doesn't care because it's been like that for years now. Not a good sign for their interest in this game.

PVZ and PVZ2 were amazing until EA bought them out. Then suddenly there were numerous in-app purchases and microtransactions and it was soul-sucking.

If they came out with PVZ3 and it was the full game, with no microtransactions, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! I can't imagine them doing that, though. 😢

Sweet deals. I love the PVZ and PVZ2 games. Are any of these similar style defense games?

Aren't they third-person shooters? "Battle for Neighborville" and "Garden Warfare" specifically.

You're right, I forgot about that first vs third person camera distinction.

This is going to sound dumb, but every time you're presented with a loading screen, hit the guide button and leave the side UI up. It drastically reduces the load time. No, it makes no sense. Yes, it totally works.

Yeah, once they went F2P it was all downhill. They need to realize that releasing them as regular paid games would've earned them more money if they released them on all platforms like they did with PVZ. I know I bought the original on each platform and did my part, lol. Come on, EA!

Are you referring to the mobile games? The studio was purchased by EA prior to GW

PVZ2 felt like they just ran out of ideas, so they just crammed 5,000 different plants in, and focused on the micro transactions garbage, along with other dumb and needlessly complicated things.

The original game was fun, the 2nd was just commercialized hot garbage. Modern games continue to suck more and more, because the primary goal is to extract money, whereas older games that was more of an intentional side effect. The primary goal was creating a fun and engaging experience, not analyzing each step for financial squeezing.

Honestly if they did what angry birds did and made a version of their old games without microtransactions, you just pay a few bucks, I would be all over that. 2 was a great game, they just scaled the difficulty up so high after a few worlds that I don't know how you can beat it without cheats.

PVZ2 enshittification was mostly EA. EA bought PopCap in 2011, announced PvZ2 in 2012, laid off a huge chunk of PopCap and then released PvZ2 a year later after delays. The same years that EA was voted the Worst Company in America. If PopCap hadn't been bought out, I'm sure the result would have been much different.

Garden Warfare 2 is probably the deepest cartoon fps I've ever played, unfortunately they didn't keep pouring money into it. Relaxing and lots to do.
