Anyone have luck getting any of these (especially Dragon Age Inquisition) working on the Steam Deck? I know there are mods that require messing with the file system or custom Proton packs but all that sounds a little annoying.

Thanks! I have seen that but I appreciate you for sharing. I haven't bothered with that because any EA app update (allegedly) breaks the 'fix' until a custom Proton version is created fixing...the fix. Might be a day or weeks, maybe never if the random person who is making it decides to stop.. Probably not a frequent issue but I would hate for that to occur when in was in the middle of the campaign.

Now, I wonder if Steam's newish feature of letting you disable Steam Input would also fix the problem? Steam Input seems to be the factor that annoys certain (EA mostly) games.

I know that the first game plays great on a PC, since at the time, that was the main platform for the game, and the Xbox 360 and PS3 got slightly gimped versions of the game, but how do Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition play on a PC considering that they were developed more with the game consoles of the time being the main focus, and PC being more of an obligation than the main platform?

Will do. FWIW the Steam Deck is awesome, there are just a game here or there it has a problem playing....normally involving 3rd party launchers. But you can't complain so much, there are over 10,000 "verified" games and probably another 20,000 marked "playable" for the SD.* You just need to do 5 seconds of research on the Steam page or on ProtonDB before buying a game to make sure it will work. 99% of the time it will work flawless. Sometimes like this one might request a tad bit of tinkering. Give it 6 months and someone else will figure out a better fix or Steam will release a "Proton" version that will fix it all behind the scenes.

*Compared to any other console those are unheard of numbers.

I have played DAEmbarrassment, absolutely the best. Have started the II and the inquisition, but never was really into the game and never finished them. I am debating to replay those games on Steams.

Dragon Age 2 was not very good. I quit a couple of hours in. I should give Inquisition another shot.

I'm in the minority that really liked DA2. I liked that it was a sword and sorcery rpg on a single city scale, although I remember mechanical issues. Inquisition is just great though, easily the best of the 3.

I bought this last time it was on sale and I stopped playing it after a couple of days because while the storyline is good, the graphics aren't and even after switching from normal to easy the game was still too hard for me a casual player. You have to look at your opponent and then equip your party with the right counter offense weapons & potions. It was way too many saves, reloads and work to make any real hack and slay progress. For hardcore gamers I think it'll be fine, but wasn't my cup of tea (I do however play their mass effect games from the same studio all the time).

Just finished playing DAO. it was really clunky and it kept crashing in some specific parts so I had to install a fix i found online.
Plot wise is pretty good.

Agreed.
I literally stopped playing this game earlier tonight and uninstalled it after my second time playing it. I stopped where I got the the first boss (at the first GIANT rift) and was forced to play as one of the other characters. I was like WTF is this?! I've been playing games since 1977 and have never been forced to play a character I didn't choose. It's not for me.

Yes, Epic had it for free and it activates on the EA app.

Just an fyi, you can get these for the same prices on gog.com, no third party connect accounts, no internet connection to steam required, no drm, etc. You can put this on usb play it drm and install on as many pc/laptops that you have. Just a little something for people who want to own their games rather than have it as a rental service that can be revoked at any time.
