Series 2 Elite Controller in White/Black for 104.99
Walmart [walmart.com]
Target [target.com]

With Stickdrift still prevalent, I think Walmart is the best deal since you can add a three-year warranty for $22.

Yes that is true. extended warranty is invaluable for this controller given the numerous cases of drift issue and such.

Just know that it is not entirely from Walmart as to go to Walmart customer service after 30 days and ask for it replacement. It actually from third party and they requires owner to register the item thru them either by phone or website. The receipt even said it.

Not a hard thing to do IMO. Just some extra steps to ensure coverage. Why you may asked? Cuz not many shoppers are aware of this or just assume that Walmart handles everything.

Thought I should share that I had learned from a Walmart employee.

I have 2 elite series 2 since they launched and have had zero issues with them (no drift issued or issues with the shoulder buttons, face buttons, etc.) having said that i still recommend extended warranty or using a card that doubles the warranty for any controller after the PS3/360 generation... In particular for Switch JoyCons just due to the possibility of drift.

Why buy this when the red one is $95.99 at Target https://www.target.com/p/xbox-eli...A-88533778

Please stop buying these controllers. Both this and the core are planned obsolescence, money grab devices that are designed to fail in significant numbers.

Agreed! Been that price for a little while now. Got gamestop to match it last weekend so I was able to use my $5 monthly pro credit and some rewards points I'd built up, too.

How do these usually fail? Are they more durable than the regular Core controllers?

Why get this over a regular Xbox controller? The extra buttons? Is anything else better about it quality wise?

Even at $80 it's a ripoff. They make these for 15$.
News flash.. everything costs less to make than they sell it for EEK!

There are a lot of improvements in materials and functionality but the reliability is a lot lower. I personally wouldn't go back to the standard Xbox controller.

This is true but they (Microsoft) do replace with, in my experience, a brand new one if you have issues within a year. I set a reminder on my phone and pretty much always exchange it.

I have been running these since 2020 and am probably on my 5th. The bumpers are what usually fail but they can develop stick drift as well. The build quality leaves a lot to be desired but the warranty is pretty nice.

I've also tried the Scuf Instinct and Razer Chroma RGB as alternatives an neither match up in design and ease of use. The Scuf is also not particularly durable and the Razer despite being a high quality build that is slightly larger (nice for bigger hands) has the worst paddle design I've encountered.

You're kind of stuck if you want to play in an Xbox wirelessly (which is pretty relevant now that most TVs are 65+".

I'd tend to agree on PC and switch, where newer companies in China are producing better parts for less.

Complete ignorance on my part - what do you suggest instead?

There is no better Xbox style controller. Ignore the "sky is falling". Get the warranty for peace of mind.
