I vowed never to touch Adidas and tell others my experience. Five Ten used to be known for quality but the canvas Freeriders I got were actually worse than the Freerider Pro PrimeBlue soles. I ride a few times a week and weigh 190lbs and ride flat pedals with pins or screws(OneUp Alum and Nukeproof Enduro Horizon - Sam Hill). The Primeblue soles were chewed up through the grippy circles and into the soles about 1/4" in a pedal shape causing slippage in only THREE months. Luckily REI policy covered me. Later the canvas Freerider showed up on the deals here and I thought it was a steal but only 2 months in the soles bubbled in BOTH balls of the foot separating the rubber from midsole. Adidas accepted video and pics and would NOT warranty them and even ignored my video they requested and received and any phone calls thereafter.

I've used many other freerider models and actually love freerider pros(have some but haven't needed to wear), Free and Impact models but certain models or batches have major issues and Adidas "support" gave up on me.

https://ibb.co/852WsVY hard to see the internal bubbles near balls of feet area but i sent a video with more details showing 1/4" of movement when squeezing the balls of the sole.

https://ibb.co/852WsVY better angle

I've since moved on to Specialized 2FO Roost (which I noticed is currently $49.99)

the first batch produced lasted me two years of heavy riding even as I got better and rode tougher before they finally STARTED to look like the PrimeBlue soles at three months.

I think all Adias run small, I wear 12.5-13 and I always have to get size 14. They have a great return or exchange program though.

I have two pairs of regular Free riders and have ridden with them for about 2 years, and no problems with the quality.

I wish these were any good for walking in, but they're horrible for anything other than riding.

Lots of MTB shoes on sale now, 2fo Roost are $50.

USE EURO SIZING AND THE BRAND'S SIZE CHART. I've found this is more accurate. I'm a EU47 which can translate to US size 12, 12.5, or 13 depending on the brand! I'm a 12.5 in FiveTen, 13 in New Balance and Vans. RC Concepts and some others will tell you the toe box sizing too (for wider feet).

I've gone through three pairs and so has my son; two of his delaminated, I had no issues w/ ELC but the Freeriders did start to separate after a while. They're hit and miss. If you get them on sale, it still works out. The soles can be reattached with Shoe Goo. I'm glad there's competition now though!

FWIW I've recently bought some Specialized Roosts too and, thus far (~100 miles in), I can report that they seem solid build-wise and I think are a good deal at $49.99 on sale.

I'm counting on it. I'm a 13W, and got the 14. I just need a shoe with a shank in the midsole. Hope these work. I have yet to understand why they can't seem to design a wide shoe in all of Germany.

I prefer the Freerider Pro over the standard Freerider. Reviews indicate the canvas shoes don't last as long as the other materials in any model.

The Pros add some stiffness to the sole and increase toe box protection. That extra protection is worth the extra cost for me.
