Warning to all: this is a Zen 2 laptop, this architecture is several years old now. Nothing wrong with it, but it's nowhere near recent CPUs in terms of performance or efficiency, we've made some massive strides in this regard over the last 6 years.

Which CPU would be the better alternative?

I looked up on google, Zen4 is the latest AMD in stores, and Zen5 will be released soon. Seems that the architecture is mixed up between the model #s, but most of the 8000 are zen 4, and the new zen5 will be 9000 model #s. As far as performance goes, no one is leaps and bounds above the other, as long as the specs are pretty close, as per reviews ( no hands on experience).

Thanks for clearing the generation up! I'm not familiar with AMD Ryzen generation and model naming hierarchy. At this price I figured it's a generation or two older. But being paired with 16GB's of LPDDR5 RAM, made me pause and a little confused. Normally, you won't find 12th gen Intel's paired with DDR5's but rather DDR4's instead. But it seems like if you just need a surfing, paper writing, youtube watching kinda machine, this seems like a good deal nonetheless.

+1 to that
This is just horrible from both AMD and Intel.
They are repackaging old stuff and selling as new.
I wonder how the employees of these companies are getting paid as they are not doing any significant work at all.
This is waste of money.

Intel 12th or 13th gen i5, i7 like 1235u, 1255u, 1335u,
AMD gen 4 or gen 5 like 7840u, 7640u, 8845hs, 8645hs etc.

Even for those stuff, you can get much better deals. This is not a deal at all. It is a regular price.
For 400 bucks you can easily get 12th or 13th gen i5 processor from intel.
What can Ddr5 ram do if processor itself is weak?
