Just a heads up the Surfers will be the squeaky-est shoes you've ever owned. They're embarrassing to wear.

It's unfortunate because they're extremely comfortable and I personally like the look of them.

People will say you can run a file through the clouds to remove the squeak but I think that's absurd to have to do on these expensive of shoes.
$160 is a pretty standard price for good running shoes these days. NB, ASICS, Nike, adidas etc all their real running shoes start at $140 and up. Of course we are slick dealers so we hopefully aren't paying those prices!
I buy running shoes because I'm fat, not because I run. There is a *massive* difference in material durability between a high end shoe and a cheap shoe. I went over a decade buying cheap crap because it wore out so fast. Now I'm a hoka/sauccony wearer because it makes sense to pay the money for how much longer they stay comfortable. My fat knees start hurting after 3-4 weeks on cheap shoes.

I've had mine about 2 months, 3-5 mile runs in the neighborhood 3-4 times a week. No squeak yet, but they're so damn comfortable that if they do they're well worth the 5-10 minutes to file the clouds and I would still gladly buy another pair. This is my first pair of ONs, I have been in Hoka's for years. I love Hoka's but I'm liking these even better which I didn't think was possible.

Second this. The squeak is insane.

Is the squeak present all the time, or when the soles are wet?

It does, but it does not bother me. But I won't use them in front of many others.

What makes these different than something you can grab at Walmart for example? I know r&d costs money, but the shoes themselves don't cost that much to make

I have these shoes, this is my first pair of ON. I love the feedback these shoes have for running. They have that bounce/force that allows you to sprint faster every time your feet hit the ground ...like the bounce of a basketball. The harder you run the higher the bounce. However, these shoes are loud. They are like suction cups...when you walk it makes a pop/squeak noise when you run. They are true to size and very comfortable to wear as a daily. But since I got more serious about running, I try to save these shoes for running and not for daily because of how expensive they are. I was reading up that running shoes began to lose its efficacy after 400 mile mark. If you have a Garmin watch, you can add in your shoe and Everytime you do your running workout, the watch will keep track of how many miles you put into your shoe. I'm about 1/4 into its life so far ...according to my watch. I was also told to grab another pair of running shoes to switch it back and fourth.

It won't feel like you're walking on concrete feels like a soft semihard marshmallow but $100 still too much seen others at $40 that feel just as soft like adidas xplrboost and new balance fuel cell

The instant that the On Cloudeclipse go on sale I'm buying those, I don't care what garish colour they're in. I need running shoes that reduce knee pain and most of the journalism on On shoes indicates Cloudeclipse are the best.
