So, this is how the deal works, you pay full price for the phone, and it comes with Full year of free 5G service worth 25$/ month which is 300$/year. If you end up using their service for full year then you will get 300$ off for the new Iphone16. I think it is not locked to boostmobile it is an unlocked phone it is upto you to use the free 1-year service or not.

Take whatever Boost says with a lb of SALT. No where on the specs or order page does it say this phone is unlocked.

Their unlock policy is buried under their website's terms & conditions.

In the past they have tried to charge back the full price of their iPhone deals when the deal DID NOT specify that you have to be on Boost for a certain number of months

In the r/boostmobile subreddit, the Boost rep confirmed [reddit.com] that iPhones bought outright will be eligible to unlock 2 days after activation. Of course YMMV! but if true, then this seems like a solid deal if you consider the $25 Unlimited plan to be good for your needs.
