My child was the right height/weight for a booster so we ditched our car seat and went that route. Freedom!!!! Especially for traveling.
....Except your kid can be the right height, and the right weight, but not have the right maturity to sit upright at all times. In retrospect we should have went the highback route and got a regular booster for travel. Took a bit of time to learn how to not lean all over the place when sleeping in the car, for example.
All this to type if you're child too is ready to leave a car seat consider this first
I recommend one with a latch so it doesn't fly around when your kid isn't sitting on it
I have a Graco high back with latch and a Chicco backless without latch. Flying booster when you have to slam on the brakes while driving solo is no fun.

No latch no way. More fidgeting and fussing every time they're getting in and out of the car too.
1. Bought this for $42 back in July from Amazon. Not a bad price here and in my opinion totally worth it to go the booster route for my kid.
2. No latch. Just uses the seatbelt to secure the child. But the seatbelt stays in the little notch above the shoulder and keeps the booster against the seat. I haven't had a booster flying issue with mine. But maybe I just haven't slammed on the brakes yet.
3. Lightweight and easy to remove/ put in another car. Amazing.

Right, otherwise you're supposed to keep it buckled always.
Wait so this doesn't have a latch?
