Almost grabbed one thinking the "AI camera" was for a built-in 3D scanner. I've always said that 3D printing won't become popular until there's an affordable (and accurate) 3D scanner. Until then, it won't be used for more than printing silly figurines that no one really wanted. Most people simply don't have the skills to do 3D CAD and online patterns rarely have what users want. What we want is the ability to do 3D copying, like photocopying.

I was about to click on the Buy button then discovered that the camera is just for monitoring the printing. Oh well.
3D printing evolved beyond printing trinkets years ago. And the Bambu has moved 3D printing into the edge of mainstream. Did you just crawl out of your bunker Adam Weber? You must have, or you might have used the Google machine and discovered Polycam and that with little to no skill following a simple Blender tutorial you can go from phone to 3d print without a steep learning curve.

it's 199 on their official website. 340 is with AMS (automatic dispenser for 4 different colours)

It's $199 and better in so many ways. Do some research. Bambu makes your inkjet look high maintenance. COLOR is $349.

as others have mentioned, it's $199 for the non ams version. bambu lab is so far ahead they're at the top of every best printer list.

if you want a printer that works vs a new hobby trying to make a printer work then get a bambu lab printer.

Have to agree with the Bambu lab cultists on this one just because the Bambu will have a larger build area.

Since you're not actually getting answered, I'll chime in to try and answer ... I don't have a Bambu, but know enough about it ... a few things:
  • Sensors
    • First layer goes down perfect with ZERO work needed.
      • Many printers that have a first layer sensor still require you to manually adjust the at least once or compensate for different materials. The bambu does all that automatically
      • This is important because if the first layer comes off, the whole print turns to spaghetti or can cause a massive clog that can damage the hotend.
  • Profiles
    • Bambu has extensive filament profiles
      • Some brands need to be heated up more, need more cooling, need more tuning in general. From what I understand Bambu largely eliminates the need for this.
      • Not doing this tuning will generally not break prints on other printers, but they may not look as nice or be as dimension-ally accurate.
Those two items by themselves are huge. It's like 95% of the problems people have with printing and it makes it a HORRIBLE experience when these issues crop up. Bambu largely just negates the main issues you'll have.

In addition, it's basically the only ecosystem out there with a turnkey multi-color printing solution. Sure, other options exist, but not at a pricepoint that's anywhere close and not something that works anywhere near as easily. A lot of people will call this a gimmick and ... well, it kind of is, BUT, it's a gimmick that people actually want. Sure, it wastes filament, but, I'd wager I've burned through a lot more filament with bad prints on my old Ender 3 and/or Ender 5 than many people have with their Bambu multi-color purges and bad prints combined.

ETA: People have already mentioned it, but I will as well since I'm directly replying to your comment. The $350-ish pricepoint is all in for the printer AND the multi-material AMS not just for the printer.
Some downsides of the Bambu though are that it REQUIRES internet to function. Most printers will work either completely offline or connected to your local LAN without extnernal internet connectivity ... the Bambu ecosystem though requires internet to function (I imagine only to start the print, I wouldn't think it'd break mid-print if your internet goes out).

Can anyone recommend a good 3d printer for a beginner? I have been thinking about getting one for a while but don't have time to learn from work and kids. Anything low maintenance and easier learning curve. Thanks, I see other comments so i'll admit maybe i just crawled out of a cave on this one. lol Thanks for your help.

For anyone actually interested in this printer. I got it as part of the kickstarter first deliveries. It's a really easy to use printer! Coming from the Prusa MKS3+ and Creality C-10 it was night and day in time to print. Good consistent quality printing PLA+. 95% of my prints came out great and had great first layers.

That being said, I haven't tried the Bambu Lab Printers but I can see just how much faster and easier than the C5 they are just from a casual glance.

I got the Sovol SV06, but there is a bit of setup and a relatively easy learning curve. This was before the cheap bambu one was released.

If you want plug and play, bambu is the way to go. Part of the fun for me, is the DIY, upgrades, and learning about 3d printing in general thru trial and error. However, i could totally understand someone just wanting to print stuff without constantly working out issues.

there's LAN mode on the bambu's:
Quote :
LAN Mode is a feature that allows Bambu Lab printers to work in a local area network, and communicate with the slicer for sending files and monitoring without requiring internet access.
This feature can also benefit you if you are printing highly sensitive models that need to be kept private and highly secured.

When LAN Mode is enabled, the following features do not work:
- Cannot start prints remotely from outside the local network
- Bambu Handy app is not available when using LAN Mode.
- Print History feature is not available

Nice! I didn't realize that was a universal feature and thought it was only on their higher end models. Good to know! Thanks!

It's better, but the build volume is significantly smaller.
