I tried a year of SiriusXM. This is it in a nutshell. You put on a station and some DJ is talking for 5 minutes straight, a song is played, then the DJ comes back on to talk. This is at 5PM-6PM as you are leaving work and are traveling in your car. The prime time for this type of service.
The same music gets played over and over on the same channels from day to day.
Spotify is simply a better experience. I can skip tracks. Play an entire album. Create a playlist, listen to other people's playlists. I can press the speech recognition button on my steering wheel and tell it to play a specific album on spotify, a specific song, or playlist, etc. SiriusXM seemed so archaic. Like a slightly better FM radio service. Honestly, Spotify's free service you listen to less interruptions than you do paying for SiriusXM and listening to a DJ talk for 5 minutes. 🤭

Personally, I like DJs when listening to music. Some of them are bad, but a lot of the Sirius XM DJs are quite good. They sort of make you feel like you're hanging with a buddy. Hair Nations for example are quite good and a lot of the guest DJs are fairly interesting. They've had Mark McGrath, Chris Collinsworth, Brett Michaels, Motley Crew, Conan O'Brien, Dave Grohl, and just a ton more. I also like somebody else choosing the music as having almost every song at my fingertips can get a little overwhelming at times. It's like if I'm not in love with a song, I feel the need to change it and I just end up on my phone instead of relaxing. I also haven't had all that much luck with spotify's playlists. I've had much better luck with Pandora's, and those are built into the sirius xm app. This is coming from a 30 year old. Sirius XM may not be for everybody, but there are definitely people out there that still enjoy it.

You were listening to channels that have DJ's and promote the talking.. love my xm, been a sub for 20 yrs.. of course I flip between like 10 channels... been calling every time my offers are up and I dont think I've ever paid more than $5 a month.. lowest was $2 but that was way back.

If you're not a talk radio/sports fan and just want XM music, look at this post: https://slickdeals.net/f/16632347-sirius-xm-5-years-for-181-ymmv-149-fees-taxes?sort=olde
