I knew they stopped including the lighter in most cars, but I haven't seen anything in my recent shopping that was missing a 12v in the front (and usually rear).

It's like a CD/DVD player -- cheap, takes up very little space, and keeps customers' legacy collections of gear still usable . Every car should have them. Instead we all have endless features that nobody uses....
