Here's the full price per calorie breakdown, let me know if there's any mistakes.

Granola with Milk and Blueberries, Pork Sausage, Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and Rice & Chicken top the list

Thanks I went ahead and ordered a few #10 cans. I didn't crunch all the numbers but the most cost effective $/calorie seemed to be: Beef Stroganoff with Noodles, Biscuits & Gravy, Rice & Chicken, Chili Mac with Beef

We doin' per serving, per 100 cal, or just getting what's cheapest total, or what looks yum? Smilie

I picked up three cans of the chicken and rice to supplement the fam's supply.

While kinda on topic and because I know there's bound to be some wisdom on this stuff in here: what's cheapest but viable way to preserve foods for, say, 10 years if I were to buy a bunch of stuff in bulk. Maybe rice, oats, pasta, powdered mashed tates for carbs, beans, etc.? Thanks!

What's the general consensus on taste for this brand?

First time using this for a weekend hike. I was shopping at REI and someone said they didn't like the taste of this brand, albeit I'll be using the freeze dry version.

Everything tastes better after a long day of hiking. To me it's one of the top brands. When backpacking I have several brands I utilize and I just take my favorites from each brand. If you get one you don't like from this brand vs one you like from another brand of course you're going to like the other brand. The reverse is true though as well. All the red sauce things in my mind taste the same so don't take 3 different kinds of that for variety. Pasta primavera, Turkey tetrazzini, chili Mac, chicken fried rice are good and provide variety. They also have some that are good on tortillas and if you take a couple that really helps mix it up too

It's good. My kids prefer this over the fancier brands. Everyone loves beef stroganoff, biscuits gravy and breakfast skillet.

Not a big fan myself, they always upset my stomach or have too much sugar. Peak Refuel is the best IMHO.

Are the days of discounted bucket variety meals as opposed to these cans gone?

Get a vacuum sealer and you can reseal for longer after opening. If you want to be super legit, add a silica packet per bag. Many people diy their own with harvestright.

Can you divide these up in like a Ziploc or similar just before a 7 day hike for example and use them like the regular single packets? These would produce about 4 packs that are normally $10 each.

They've been putting these cans on sale quite often. They must have a significant surplus inventory. I remember when these were so backordered the website stopped taking orders.

Get them now before the next panic buying.
