They are both two channel class AB amplifiers that allow users to select the audio source and control volume. The Onkyo has a built-in AM/FM receiver, that's what makes it a receiver. But the amplifier functions in exactly the same manner on both. An integrated amplifier is an electronic device containing an audio preamplifier and power amplifier in one unit, as opposed to separating the two. Both devices include and function as an integrated amplifier.

Labels are useless if you don't understand what they mean.

This is a really nice unit, although it's definitely a receiver vs. an integrated amp. (Note the connections for a radio antenna.)

Still an awesome choice for music, especially with a nice onboard DAC. With two decent speakers and a powered sub, this would be very enjoyable.

This post is very misleading

The Onkyo posted is a receiver, and not an integrated amp.

I see no mention in the product description that this is part of the "audiophile line"

this Yamaha is an integrated amp.

If you know, you just move right along. This is pretty obviously not an audiophile integrated amp. Although its spec'd pretty decent if you're new to the hobby or looking for a budget option.

They really need a better word for people who are obsessed with sound quality

edit: The word is Audiophile. Sounds a lot like that other word... you know the one...
