I'm so excited about the leaps in these handheld capabilities. I am holding out for one that can emulate Ps2, hopefully it shouldn't be that too far out.

Theres a few handhelds that can do Ps2. Most recently the Retroid Pocket Mini and Retroid Pocket 5 are good price to capabilities. https://www.goretroid.com/

You could get it for around $60 if you are OK with a phone and Hall Effect controller. For example the Moto G Power 2024 combined with an EasySMX M15 or BSP D9.
I know it's not the same as a dedicated device but it's the best value you can get right now.
Edit: Powkiddy X28 is also pretty solid. It can't play ALL GC/PS2 like a T820 or above would, but it gets most of the way there and is the best bang for buck at $80 after coupons.

I know it's not the same as a dedicated device but it's the best value you can get right now.
