As you like to say, send me a time machine to get that deal today. ;-)
Yes it's $50 more but $950 for a 4070 still seems like a decent deal for those looking for a mid-tier gaming laptop.
1. I've hardly ever said that, if ever.
2. No, it's not a decent deal. For a few bucks more you can get a 4070 with a much better display unlike the FHD on this. Not to mention also one with a better processor with integrated graphics. The Dell G16 although refurb, was available at this price until just a couple of hours ago.
For the given price, it's not a good deal and it's better that people wait to actually spend all this money on something better. It's holiday season and better deals are bound to come everyday. Had it been any other time of the year, this deal would've been considerable.

1. But you've still said it from time to time, correct?
2. Refurb is not the same as new.
3. I have a ton of respect for you. You post laptop deals at what seems like an impossible rate, and I know I for one have benefited from that and appreciate it, so first and foremost, thank you. That said, based on what I've seen, I thought it seemed like a reasonable deal, so I posted. Maybe it is, maybe it's not, I guess the community will decide. Everyone has different preferences/tolerances, it's not always down to the core hardware specs, e.g. form factor, availability to ship, kb layout, screen size, resolution, weight, cooling, hinges, reliability, etc. For example I personally wouldn't buy this, but only because I have a microcenter nearby with a better spec'd Lenovo for $50 more. But, it's not lost on me that most do not have a Microcenter nearby.
I may very well be wrong, maybe the community hates it, and if so I'll live. There was no ill will on my part, just sharing something that I thought seemed like a decent deal.

I appreciate the kind words, and nothing personal but how about you yourself assess the value of this deal by judging that the 4060 model of this is $699, $350 cheaper than your deal right here with the only difference being the RTX 4070. Is this worth paying $350 extra? Definitely not. There's not a significant difference between RTX 4060 and 4070, and the mid-tier gaming you mentioned can easily be done on $699 deal, making this price and deal unreasonable, at least IMO.
Nonetheless, thank you for posting. Let's leave it to the community.

Appreciate the thoughtful response. This maybe where your laptop expertise supercedes mine. Last time I really deep dived into RTX cards was the 3000 series, and the 3070 was a decent leap over the 3060. I applied this logic to the 4000 series but perhaps this isn't the case. I could have sworn I saw an article stating the 4070 was the "sweet spot" for performance/value of the line, but perhaps that was only referring to the desktop versions.
Don't even get me started on the Ryzen CPU naming schemes. lol
