$60 is a great price for the Wera Tool-Check Plus imperial set.
$65 is a decent price for the Wera Tool-Check Plus metric set.
$25 is a great price for the Wera metric multicolor 9-piece hex set.

I'm always shocked by how often Woot has these premium brands carried at a discount, especially the tool check and zyclops.

The advent calendar price is fantastic if you're into that. It's basically a mini tool check with a unique ratchet head and salt/pepper shakers. It won't be as useful as the Tool Check Plus overall, but a neat gift idea.

Why? These are both brands that sell directly on Amazon. Woot is Amazon's get rid of what isn't selling site.

There are lots of folks doing independent testing of tools these days and Wera consistently comes out with the best or near best in wear resistance. The makeup of the steel used doesn't really matter as much as people think, commonly used alloys are all fine, but the heat treatment quality is all over the place. A cheap tool is far more likely to be poorly heat treated, if at all.

I got a Wiha ESD bit driver set on the previous 'Wootout'. It was branded as Wiha USA and was made in Vietnam. The quality seems ok, just a bit bummed they are not a German / EU version. I see the same sets being pushed on Home Depot 'Deal of the day'. My interpretation would be someone is bringing premium German brands to the US market manufactured to a US price point outside the EU.

Wera are great tools. So are Japanese brands like Tone, Vessel, Fujiya etc. i have used all 4 and very satisfied with all of them. Wera prices are higher than others

I had a similar experience. I recently purchased a 7 piece set of Wiha precision screwdrivers, assuming they would show they were made in Germany, yet I was surprised to see they showed the print "Designed to DIN/ISO standards by Wiha Germany. Manufactured in Poland."
The quality of the set appeared great and flawless, regardless and they worked just fine on many unusually tight gripping size 00 and 000 size precision screws.

If you check Amazon reviews - the production seems to have moved to Poland and Czech Republic a few years ago. Vietnam is new though. I guess if the quality starts to go down - it will be an Ebay treasure hunt all over again, just like we had with US-made Craftsman tools woot
