My grandmother studied law at night and put herself through school, passing the bar in 1955. My gramps didn't even know she had been doing odd jobs on the side for tuition, so he was a little angry, but once he saw the money rolling in, all was forgiven. It was a different time for women, but she really was a trailblazer. The funny part was that she hid a lot of her stuff in these old tins and after she died in 1990, we opened them up to find a ton of folded papers with summaries of case law, famous precedents, all kinds of random tactics, you name it. My aunt was like "what the heck is all this?"

With tears in my eyes, I just explained "That was grandma's suing kit."
