I can say there will definitely be a difference vs $70 DAC. Main question is will you care about that difference? Some people I know does not care about small differences provided by better audio equipment. My brother listened by MDR Z1R headphones and said there is definitely a difference but he would not pay more over his beats solo for it. And the impact provided by a DAC will be much smaller than a difference between MDR Z1R and beats solo. So it is always a matter of preferences.
So... $50 off it's historical average? Nice try "pumping" this before the sale... /sigh

I don't think so, I've never seen this line go below this price.

Wow... this price is insane.

Bought it 2 years ago for $350, which was a good price for the quality of sound it produces (if you care about that at all).
Then its price dropped to periodic/frequent $300, which was a great price.
Now at $250... I have to resist the urge of ordering a spare...

Did you have a chance to compare the sound with cheaper DACs?
My audiophile friend strongly recommended switching from PC sound card to DAC. I have purchased $70 one but don't feel a dramatic improvement on my PC+audiophille earpads. The sound generated by iphone+bluetooth earphones still seems to be better.

If you don't feel the difference no need to pay more. Most important difference cpmes from headphones by the way. DAC males a difference but secondary.

My question is will I feel any difference with this $300 DAC compare to $70 DAC?
I have several headphones including AKG Y600NC and KEF space one (my favorite), should be sufficient to distinguish the difference, isn't?

probably depends on the dac...this dac is said to be better than the ifi hip dac, but the ifi diablo is better than this ifi finale. So it depends on your budget and needs. You will hear differences

Definitely look at better headphones as a start if you want better more noticeable difference. Depending if you game with a mic or not, there are DACs that have mic control. Currently using a Schiit Hel+, it has a volume (gain) control knob specifically for mics. But headphone wise I'm rock'n a Hifiman - Ananda Stealth (~$500) and Sennheiser 6XX (~$200) headphones. DACs (and AMPs) are secondary as someone also mentioned but it is important if you want the best out of your audio chain.

I was more in the 'comparison game' 5-6 years ago, when I got original ifi iDsd Micro, and yes, it is much better than cheap DACs - for me. Nobody hears the same way, and different aspects of sound matter more to different people. I like acoustic music of different genres, like my sound to be fairly natural with a very slight warm bias, and value precise phase response leading to better 'imaging' over perfect frequency response curve. This dac/amp does it for me. Now, I do have a vintage ladder studio-level DAC and big/heavy/$$$$ desktop headphones amp, and that combo IS better than iFi iDsd, but ... I find that most of the time iFi iDsd Micro is good enough for me (and I do not feel that way about any other DAC/amp that I tried).

Those days I tend to just enjoy the sound without twisting myself into pretzel about it.

With those headphones, this won't make much difference. You'd want a decent audiophile headphone, preferably open back, like the Sennheiser 560s or Hifiman Sundara. It also depends on which 70$ DAC/headphone amp you're talking about. If you have like a Topping DX1, then you might need even better headphones (Hifiman Arya?) to hear the difference.

Is it that unreliable ?

Spare for what? You expect your current one to stop working or something?
