It's better to buy it from straight talk website directly since you could get better cashback (12% currently) from some cash back site. Also some chase card give 25% cashback for straight talk (capped at 15).

That can bring down the effective price to 204. (You still have to pay tax on 249 though)

I purchased it last time and consensus was that you need to purchase the silver plan at minimum to get this price. Only need to buy one month of service. Wait another 30 days (60 days total) then the phone will be carrier unlocked.

It's not $50 higher than BF deal.
It's $40 higher than BF deal since this only needs $35 plan but the BF deal needs $45 plan.

You must have activated it on Tracfone. If you had done that it might consider it as "Bring Your Own Phone" and therefore it doesn't unlock. No guarantee but might try to activate it on Straight Talk with the correct plan and it might unlock after 60 days.

Straight talk only has it for existing customers upgrading your phone. It doesn't allow new customers or new lines.
