The Astro A30 are good for wireless gaming. The wireless dongle ensures a low-latency gaming experience, so audio and video stay in sync. The dongle you get with your unit is console-locked to either the Xbox or PlayStation. Unfortunately, they're prone to inconsistencies in audio delivery depending on fit, positioning, and seal. You'll especially notice a drop in bass if you have thick hair or wear glasses. On the upside, they're comfortable for long gaming sessions and have excellent battery performance.
These are decent, but I feel like all of the Astro headsets have a muddy middle, and are a little bass heavy, but that really depends on what types of games you're playing. For Call of Duty in particular, I felt like these, the A10, and the A40's all masked the detail sounds with mid-bass that made it harder to hear directional sound, even with Dolby atmos for headphones enabled. They're good if that's the sound signature you prefer.
Use to be a huge fan of Astro before Logitech bought them out. Quality was unmatched. Logitech bought them and the quality took a complete nose dive. The plastic they use is cheap and feels like a $40 headset. I have owned 4 Astro headsets in my time. I am still using 7 year old A40s before Logitech acquired them. And the last two pairs I bought, one I returned because the head strap had a sharp mis cut corner and cut my hand. Returned it. Another different set, a50 I bought 2 years ago, the head strap plastic paint has completely peeled off and looks like a 20 year old headset and I had to replace the ear cushions after 1 year. The sound quality is good so no complaints there. However due to build quality, They have lost my business going forward unfortunately.
I love these, I've used plenty and always go back to these, great sound, great bass, connects via Bluetooth simultaneously to 2.4 dongle, and most important has physical controls for chat mix on the headphones, no silly software needed.
